“It’s all about the paint.”

I find magic in the beginnings of a painting. This, for me, is the origin of a story. I start with an idea as a springboard, or point of departure, and begin my paintings with organic marks and pools of transparent color upon a brilliant white ground. From there the paint and the marks guide the path of the painting. I work loosely, intuitively and organically, embracing an experimental, searching and risk-taking approach. All stages of the form and content make up the story and the life of the painting. Ambiguity and open endedness allow the viewer to establish his/her own personal rapport with my work. This is when the life of the piece begins.
